A few members of one of the book clubs I'm in were lamenting that they rarely seemed to read any older books, instead concentrating almost solely on new releases (not a problem I have, thankfully!). So after some discussion we decided to set ourselves a fun little challenge this year. Each of us is to read as many books as they can that were originally published in the year of their birth. At the end of the year, we tally them to see who scored the highest. Childrens books/graphic novels count as half. Interestingly, none of the 7 of us were born in the same year, so we'll all have different books to read.
I dug out 100 books published in the year I was born (1979). I've already read many of the top listed titles, but there are plenty yet to read. If you have any recommendations, or can think of any I missed from that year, let me know! :)
