These are my favorite books, ones I recommend to everyone. Some are educational, some stunning, some highly entertaining - all should make you think.
I am a huge fan of humorous, creative fiction (i.e. Terry Pratchett, Christopher Moore), classics and popular nonfiction. I read most genres except romance and horror, although I would read those as well if the book has other value than just titillation or gore.
My overall favorite is I, Claudius - what a great, well-written story. I re-read it from time to time.
To those who want to try out audiobooks, the best one I have ever listened to is "Born A Crime" by Trevor Noah. It is funny, poignant, about growing up in South Africa, and a love letter to his mom - superbly narrated.
To those who are proudly claiming they will never read Harry Potter, because it is not "literature" (as a few on here who have published lists): you are missing out on the greatest classic of our time. Don't be proud of it. (/rant over)
