Interestingly, of the 66 books in the Biblical canon, only 11 have ever been mined for stories to adapt on screen (Genesis, Exodus, 1 & 2 Samuel, Ruth, Esther, Jonah, and the four Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) along with the noncanon Acts of Peter and Gospel of Thomas.
