Bernie Sanders' Favorite Books
4 books he has mentioned in a speech, plus one of his own books, plus a poem written for him by Allen Ginsberg. Then, since you have to have ten books to publish, I had to dig deeper. Since Bernie backs the Green New Deal, and Naomi Klein backs Bernie, I included that. A rare article describing Bernie Sanders' earlier life and influences listed some authors he read in his college days, and even made a documentary on one of them, and, a book by an author who later wrote an until-recently-unpublished, lengthy piece on Bernie's time as mayor of Burlington. Goodread's description as a "l novel of hope lost and gained ... of fragile lives uprooted and transformed by injustice, disappointment, ...seductions and realities of the American dream." makes it sound like it might have been right up Bernie's alley, and for the sake of a 10th book, I will assume that if then-Mayor Sanders let the author-journalist follow him around for so long to write this article, he might have read his book.
