Bangsian Fantasy Books - Page 2

Bangsian Fantasy is a subgenre of fantasy that uses the afterlife as the primary setting, and frequently, the characters interact with famous figures. There has been a lot of discussion about what actually constitutes a Bangsian Fantasy - this list is primarily from Wikipedia but I have also looked at other recommendations online. The genre is named after John Kendrick Bangs who wrote the four Associated Shades books: (from Wikipedia) "Originally the Associated Shades is an exclusive men's club in Hades, whose members are the shades of famous people, including Adam and Baron Munchausen but primarily historical writers: Homer, Confucius, Shakespeare, president Walter Raleigh, Johnson and Boswell, and many others."
