Bahá'í Houses of Worship (or "Mashriqu'l-Adhkár" -Arabic for "dawning place of the mention of God") are spiritual gathering places for all people regardless of belief to come together to meditate and pray in a spirit of unity; structures around which will cluster social, humanitarian, educational, and scientific institutions. Eight continental and two local Houses of Worship have been built so far.
Bahá'ís believe that a Persian Individual named Bahá'u'lláh ("Glory of God" (1817-1892)) was the Promised One of all religions, delivered a new Revelation from God to humanity, and brought the solutions to all the world's problems for this age, ushering in a new era. He explained that the religions of the world come from the same Source as successive chapters of one religion from God for the evolution of humanity.
"The earth is but one country and mankind its citizens." "So powerful is the light of unity that it can illuminate the whole earth."
-Bahá'u'lláh
