Australian National Rugby League Teams

The Australian National Rugby League (NRL) is the premier Rugby League competition in Australia. It grew out of Sydney's (New South Wales) local Rugby League competition in 1908, eventually expanding to include teams from States such as Queensland and Victoria. Expansion has been contentious with other clubs forming in other States, but folding for a variety of reasons. Presently there are 16 teams in the competition. A hard game, it vies with other codes such as Rugby Union (ARU), the Australian Football League (AFL) & the Football Federation of Australia (FFA) to be the dominant Football code in Australia.
