Around the World in 80 Novels

I was in Waterstones buying my copy of the Centenary edition of Ulysses the other day (which is gorgeous, by the way, and perfect for a first-time reader, as it has heaps of notes and other stuff to help understand the text. Beware though, this beauty weighs about a ton!), when I saw this book and dropped it on the pile on a whim.
It's a fun little book, though I'd have preferred more books by native authors (instead of books about Portugal by Canadians, for example). It concentrates mostly on the countries visited in Verne's book (with a couple of detours thrown in).
Is it a definitive book of world fiction? No, not even close, but I guess it makes a decent jumping-off point.
The books from 82 onwards are the "further reading" suggestions found in the back of the book.
