From the AFI Website:
In 1998, AFI invited more than 1,500 leaders from across the American film community – screenwriters, directors, actors, producers, cinematographers, editors, executives, film historians and critics among them – to choose from a list of 400 nominated films compiled by AFI and select the 100 greatest American movies. The list was revisited 10 years later in 2007. Voted the number one movie both in 1998 and in 2007 was CITIZEN KANE, Orson Welles' 1941 classic, which he directed, produced, wrote and starred in at the age of 25. Five Steven Spielberg films made the top 100 list – SCHINDLER'S LIST, E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL, JAWS, RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK and SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, and Robert De Niro, Robert Duvall Katharine Hepburn and James Stewart were among the most represented actors on the list.
