A History of American Literature Part Eight: Longfellow, Emerson, Thoreau, Poe & Others - Page 2

This instalment highlights the works of well-known 19th century American authors including Longfellow, Emerson, Thoreau & Poe, plus several lesser known writers such as John Whittier & James Russell Lowell. The first 10 books were all published over "five remarkable years", 1850-55.
These are works, most of which were published in the early to mid-19th century, that are discussed in Chapter 4 of "From Puritanism to Postmodernism: A History of American Literature". Chapter 4 is within the section "From Colonial Outpost to Cultural Province".
This is the 8th instalment of a maximum of eleven. The instalments are being published in reverse chronological order.
