This is a list of 75 of the most iconic architectural, urban, landscape and hydraulic structures in the Netherlands. Not only the most famous or best-known structures are listed, but slightly less well-known are also selected. The 75 objects are divided into eight themes: living (1-9), work (10-21), defense (22-29), infrastructure (30-43), religion (44-50), government (51-59), culture and leisure (60-70) and utilities (71-75).
The list shows that architectural or scenic beauty can go hand in hand with the typically pragmatic, Dutch sobriety. That a slowly growing building tradition, in addition to sometimes shocking interventions, can now lead to a lot of appreciation. The 75 structures span a period beginning at 3500 BC. and ends with the still unfinished works in the coming decades.
