52 More Difficult Movies (No Turkish Films This Time)
- Page 2
With our last entry on Difficult Movies, we used a public domain photo of a cornfield in the American state of South Dakota. For this one, we travel some eight time zones away with an image from Gokceada/Imroz Island, a Turkish Aegean Island near Canakkale, Turkey, where Nuri Bilge Ceylan's "A Wild Pear Tree" was filmed. Ironically, there will be no Turkish films on this particular list. The author (well, me) realizes there might be a subjective bias since he happens to be half-Turkish (and half-American), and as it is Turkish films with English subtitles can never quite challenging to find here in the USA though outlets have Tubi and Netflix have a decent selection of Turkish titles. But, make no mistake, many of these films are hard to find, or hard to watch, or both ("Hard To Be A God" is one such example), hence the reason why there are on this list. As always, enjoy...!!!!!!
