50 Great Science Fiction Films - A Personal View - Page 2

A personal, idiosyncratic, and by no means definitive list by an avid SF fan and film goer. I tried to pick Films that respected and adhered to what I consider to be the essential SF tropes and motifs, and were meant to be quality films. I have arbitrarily excluded spoofs and parodies and Comic Book Movies, not because I don't think there are any good ones, but rather because they each have evolved into their own distinct forms and deserve lists of their own. Likewise, I have excluded for the same reasons horror-sci if hybrids and futuristic action movies. Finally, since I set the number at 50, I was forced to make some hard choices; as a result, I've had to omit some personal favorites, such as "Earth Vs. The Flying Saucers" (1956 ), "The Time Machine" (1960), and "Fahrenheit 451" (1966), to name but a few.
