Obviously 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die can't include every great movie ever made, but here's a few movies that I feel have always been major omissions over the various versions of the book. It's just a personal opinion however, but I have tried to be hard on deciding between what is just a pretty good movie and what is a movie which is conspicuous by it's continued absence in each new edition of the book.
I don't know how much of 2018 was taken into consideration for the latest version, but since I know that Black Panther is in it I know at least some of it was, so I decided to include one 2018 movie here as well, one I really hope gets into the next edition.
Whether you agree with the 50 movies displayed here or not regarding whether they deserve to have been or ever be in the book, they are all excellent movies worth watching. At the very least they also deserve a place in the book more than the abomination that is Paranormal Activity (2007).
