45 Silent Films in Matthew Sheldon's Collection - Page 2

Silent cinema. Whether it's the three comedic clowns of Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton or Harold Lloyd who are all so very different and so equally brilliant. Or Soviet Intellectual Montage which creates new emotional and intellectual visual meanings between two separate shots of a film while symbolically creating a third meaning outside the context of the story. I personality prefer German Expressionism and its harsh landscapes and hostile environments of abstract shapes, bizarre angles, twisted shadows and distorted sets. I also love the ghastly and macabre themes they explore throughout its story such as psychology, science, madness and murder.
