2018 National Book Award for Fiction Longlist

From their website: "The mission of the National Book Foundation is to celebrate the best literature in America, expand its audience, and ensure that books have a prominent place in American culture." So it's like the Pulitzer Committee that doesn't bother with drama, photography, music or journalism. Their less epic focus can lead them to some more interesting and offbeat selections than the Pulitzers, like in 2013 when they opted for Phil Klay's modern war novel "Redeployment" over the World War II historical epic "All the Light We Cannot See." So if you haven't read any books on this list, dive in! You might find a masterpiece.
