Van Halen was an American rock band, formed in Pasadena, California in 1972, by the Dutch-born American brothers Eddie Van Halen (guitar) and Alex Van Halen (drums), plus singer David Lee Roth and bassist Michael Anthony. The band's released 12 studio albums, 2 live albums, 2 compilations & 56 singles.The band signed a contract with Warner Bros. Records in 1977, and in the following year released the album Van Halen. As of 2007, Van Halen has sold 75 million albums worldwide and have gotten 13 #1 hits on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart. During the 1980s, they along w/Heart had more Billboard Hot 100 hits, 15, than any other hard rock or metal band.
