Rotten Tomatoes recently released a list of 140 best horror movies of the 2010s. Their list was based on critic averages they'd collected and adjusted using a formula. I also think that they took some big liberties on deciding what is or isn't a horror movie (come on guys Sightseers is a black comedy and The Limehouse Golem is a period crime movie...).
This list also presents 140 'best' horror movies for your perusal. The main difference is this uses Rate Your Music's chart data instead, which means two things:
1. This list's content was dictated by regular people, not critics. The only manual edits I allowed myself to make was the removal of animated titles and short films.
2. What counts as a horror movie was also dictated by the user base through genre voting. Some movies RT included will be excluded here no matter how good the rating.
