100 Best Horror Books -Stephen Jones and Kim Newman - Page 2

In their 1988 Book, editors Stephen Jones and Kim Newman polled the leading horror writers of the day ( and in one case reprinted an appreciation - Edgar Allan Poe on Nathaniel Hawthorne ) and ask them for a brief article on the one book they thought was the best or the scariest or the most disturbing in the field. The pairings, such as Peter Straub on Stephen King or Dennis Etchison on Dalton Trumbo, are fascinating. Jones and Newman later published a second volume on a Second Hundred Books which is also fascinating.
