10 Movies That Change Genre for Just One Scene (Screenrant)

"A number of films subvert viewer expectations when most of the picture plays out as one specific genre, and then a sudden tonal shift happens for a small portion of the movie. Today, many movies are evolving past traditional genre categorization with most containing elements of two or three genres combined. Pairing genres like this can work well and enhance the movie overall with popular combinations like romantic comedy, and action drama, proving the concept. But some filmmakers get a little more experimental and drop a whole different genre into the middle of a feature-length movie. Movies like 'Bone Tomahawk,' a Western drama, until the final scene, when things suddenly become intense horror. Others, like 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1,' make a massive visual departure from the rest of the film for a brief sequence that adds to the magic and pushes the story along." - screenrant.com
