10 Low-Budget Foreign Movies That Became Surprising Box Office Hits

"The rule of thumb is that for a movie to be considered low-budget, it must have a production budget of less than $30 million. Though that sounds like a lot of money, in terms of the movie industry, it's pennies, and would barely even cover the salary of some of Hollywood's most bankable stars. Most foreign movies are low-budget, but they still have loads of success, and if a film had a budget of $20 million, a gross profit of $60 million would make it a huge hit. However, there are some foreign movies that break the US and make $200, $300, and even $400 million. All these figures are according to Box Office Mojo."
