"Alongside huge breakout hits like Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994), Trainspotting (1996) and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998), the UK's cinematic output found many interesting ways to reflect the changes happening at societal and political levels. New voices emerged alongside the old guard as Britpop dominated the airwaves and seemed to give British cinema a confidence boost in the process.
